Volunteers In Parks - VIPs
Volunteers In Parks, VlPs, work in almost every park in the National Park System, from Maine to Hawaii, from Alaska to Florida, in big cities, in small towns, and in remote wilderness areas. Wherever they work, whatever their job, VlPs make it possible for the National Park Service to get closer to fulfilling its mission and professional responsibility: To conserve the parks' priceless natural and historical resources and to provide for their enjoyment in a way that will leave them unimpaired for future generations.

The real truth is, our National Parks cannot function without the help of the 85,000 volunteers who donate more than 3,000,000 hours of service in the US National Parks.

Wešve often thought that before anybody runs for President, Senator or Congress they should first put in a year volunteering in parks. Maybe if they did we wouldn't have a multibillion dollar budget backlog and the parks would be funded adequately every year.
