What 5% of Profits Means

What 5% Of Profits Means
When we say we donate 5% of our gross profit that means we deduct only for the cost of goods. We don't deduct for any overhead expenses, administration costs or salaries.

That means we subtract only what the product cost us to buy or make, the cost of getting it to our warehouse and the few cents it costs to take your phone call. Then we take 5% of what's left over, the "gross profit" from that sale and we set it aside in our National Park grant fund. If you order on line, even more money per item goes into that fund.

We invite you to ask other companies that make donations from your purchase just how much money they're actually donating. Some of the ones we admire, like Orvis, REI, and Patagonia will be proud to tell you because they're making great contributions. Some others will be vague and require you to read a lot of fine print to find out that sometimes only five cents of every hundred dollars is actually going to the cause you're trying to support.
