We'd been working on One For The Parks since July of 1999 and quite frankly, despite our best and most persistent efforts, we could not get the attention or support of our elected representatives, anyone at the National Park Service or anyone at any of the various park-related organizations around the country.

Everyone we spoke to told us our plan made sense, but no one wanted to provide any leadership or put themselves at any possible perceived risk.

But we persisted. One of the tools we used to try and reach out for support was using the web to send photos of our favorite parks as a visual reminder of what is at stake. We tried all the different free photo posting and sharing sites on the Internet and www.photopoint.com was by far the easiest to use and offered the most features and options.

After we began to see better results sending our electronic park postcards on photopoint.com, we sent a few to the owners and founders of the photo sharing site itself.

We told them of our plan, and politely pointed out how many of PhotoPoint's hundreds of thousands of members had already posted their favorite National Park photos.

We asked them to sponsor and support One For The Parks and offered to partner with them on behalf of the National Parks.

Fortunately for us and the National Parks, they said "yes!" with enthusiasm and shared their love for the parks with us when we met them at their San Francisco headquarters.

Being just minutes away from the Golden Gate National Recreation Area and a mere few hours from Yosemite and Redwood National Parks our new friends at PhotoPoint had a strong appreciation for the value of our National Parks and wanted to do whatever they could to help.

Now the power of over 1 million PhotoPoint members with over 10 million photos already posted will be rallied behind the rescue of our National Parks. Now the almost 2 million unique visitors to PhotoPoint.com's wonderful web site will be invited to "Send A Photo - Save The Parks" and be given the easiest simplest tools ever created to do just that.

We salute PhotoPoint.com for coming to the rescue of America's National Parks the moment they were asked and we heartily invite you to join us as proud PhotoPoint members to share not just your National Park photos, but all your photos. It won't cost you one dime and you'll be able to share the highlights of your life, as they happen, with your family and friends.
